The show goes on!
The Lovers and Fighters Convention film explores a production which was originally the finale of the 2nd Annual Transfabulous Festival, playing to a sold-out crowd. "The Genderqueer Playhouse" is a 90min showcase of a company of diverse established and emerging cabaret and perfomance artists, each mixing their art and their activism in a variety of mediums. While each individual performer presents a unique perspective and in their own way, the showcase presents a view into the diversity of gender-queer and the blurring of rigid identity boundaries.
On the basis of the original show's success, the company continues to travel and perform together, staying fresh as each artist continues to produce new, fabulously entertaining and thought-provoking work. For example, following filming, The Genderqueer Playhouse was restaged at Stockholm Europride Festival in 2008. At the festival performers also gave a series of lectures covering a whole host of subjects to sold-out audiences. For 2009, the show is already being programmed for other festivals alongside lectures and workshops.
The performers and crew are available and eager to present their work and their expertise in any combination of shows, lectures, workshops and, of course, film at your venue, club, pub, festival, whatever...
